We’re back for more! After spending 4 years doing nothing but eating biscuits (cookies, for our North American friends), we’re back for our 2 nd issue in 3 months! September will see us release Issue 19 – and we need contributors! Whilst we will always accept ANYTHING that is vaguely related to Doctor Who (you just have to read the other 18 to see that) for this particular issue we’re especially looking for: Reviews of Series 10 (Peter Capaldi’s last one) – We’re looking for your thoughts on the series; this can be you going through the episodes, your thoughts on the series as a whole, your favourite moments, your worst moments…whatever you like. The fanzine will be back next month - and as always, we're looking for contributions. We'll be reviewing Series 8 as an whole, there's no set word count for these reviews as of yet, so you can just send in whatever you feel like writing (positive or negative) on the last series of Doctor Who. If you'd like to write anything else that relates to Doctor Who, this too will be gratefully accepted. We're tentatively stepping out, like a drunken woman outside a nightclub with no shoes on at 5am, to announce that we're back from our self-imposed sabbatical and are ready for another new Issue. The final day of our journey. Here are three stories from the three Doctors of the 2000’s. Expect scares, laughter and a bit of wood. The Unquiet Dead It’s arrived! Doctor Who has arrived! That was the thing most people took away in 2005 after The Unquiet Dead first aired.   Yes, Rose and The End of The World were okay, but this episode really forced Doctor Who, and what it was about, home to millions of new viewers.   I should know, I was one of them. It’s funny, whilst watching this again, I thought back to that first series and think about how average some of the episodes were.   I think if the same episodes were aired during Series 2 or 3 they wouldn’t have gone down as well, but despite that first series being chaotic from a production point of view, it was all new, so it’s still held in high esteem.   For me though, The Unquiet Dead , along with a few others from Series 1, will go down as a bone-fide ‘new series classic’.   The story ...

I don’t think the word ‘shock’ is the right word to use to describe Matt Smith’s exit as The Doctor - we’ve been hearing rumours for the past year or so, maybe ‘surprise’ is the best way to describe it.   At first I felt a bit sad, I must admit, but that was quickly forgotten in favour of gratitude to a young actor who gave his all in what is, the most demanding acting role in television. We’ll always have a soft spot for Matt here at the fanzine - in those early days, way, way back in 2010, he was The Doctor who was up against a tidal wave of disgraceful abuse from some fans , whom tended to judge him on looks, videos of filming and the fact that he wasn’t David Tennant. After a somewhat quiet Christmas, we're all set for a busy year of Doctor Who!  But like everyone in the UK at the moment, we're shit scared of the all the snow outside and we're even finding it difficult to sneak past hoards of snowmen so we can panic buy bread, milk and DWM's from the local supermarket. What We First Thought: I don’t know what’s going on, but I’m loving it! I don’t really know how to review these episodes.   For a start, is really a two parter? It says it is, but it doesn’t feel like it is. It’s clear some time has passed since the events in the last episode, so it doesn’t really feel like a continuation. But it IS a continuation. Oh my head, I’ve confused myself now! I love A Good Man Goes To War .   I’ve been moaning for years for Doctor Who to have a proper adventure story, instead of the arc-heavy, character development, emotional mush we usually get.   Amazingly though, this episode achieved ALL of that AND a presented a great adventure tale, so it made me happy!   I liked seeing The Doctor recruit some of his ‘friends’ to rescue Amy.   The scenes which saw him pick them up were the highlights of the episode for me, with Strax the Sontaran being the standout in those.   It’s really funny to see how much effort they made to ...
