Issue 19 – Submissions Wanted!

Image
We’re back for more! After spending 4 years doing nothing but eating biscuits (cookies, for our North American friends), we’re back for our 2 nd issue in 3 months! September will see us release Issue 19 – and we need contributors! Whilst we will always accept ANYTHING that is vaguely related to Doctor Who (you just have to read the other 18 to see that) for this particular issue we’re especially looking for: Reviews of Series 10 (Peter Capaldi’s last one) – We’re looking for your thoughts on the series; this can be you going through the episodes, your thoughts on the series as a whole, your favourite moments, your worst moments…whatever you like. There is no maximum word count for this –   generally, we get between 500-1000 words for reviews like these, but we’re willing to have more (or less). Just don’t go mad with your big words, this isn’t Buzzfeed. Your thoughts on the casting of Jodie Whittaker (and the current state of the show) – (Here we go) We're looking f...

Issue 18 Contribution Details - Doctor Who fan writers wanted!

Image
Celebrating 6-and-a-half years as perhaps the Whoniverse’s most silliest fanzine, Fish Fingers and Custard is back for 2017 and we’re seeking Doctor Who fan writers to help us create our latest issue! With Doctor Who back in the Spring (finally!) and a Christmas episode and a spin-off series to digest, not to mention this being Steven Moffat’s last series as head writer , we’re very much looking forward to getting stuck into presenting our own thoughts/hopes/fears for the episodes to come. Are you? Contribute to Issue 18! What’ve you been doing in the downtime since Doctor Who has been off the air? Watching old episodes? Maybe you’ve discovered the classic series or the many spin-off books and audios? Been to any conventions/events? Maybe you’ve been watching something else entirely – let us know what you’ve been up too! For Issue 18, we’re seeking reviews/views on the following; The Return of Doctor Mysterio – Super? Or not? Class – the BBC Three spin-off seri...

Build-A-Companion (Taken from Issue 17)

Image
With the new Doctor Who Companion set to revealed today (23rd April) here is an article from our latest Issue, looking at what sort of companion the show may go for... (You can download our latest Issue for free here ) --- A s we know by now Jenna Coleman has made her exit from Doctor Who, so we’re on the lookout for a new companion for the upcoming series. So who is next? Which sort of companion (or companions) should The Doctor travel around with? Should he even have a companion? Well yes, otherwise this entire article would be utterly pointless. So unlike those build-a-bear shops you see littered around the large, uninspiring, zombie-filled shopping centres in major cities around the world - let’s build an uplifting and inspiring companion! Male? There’s been a rumbling underground campaign amongst forum-dwellers for a while about this issue. I suppose that Rory has arguably been the only (regular) male companion since the series came back in 2005. Even ...

Issue 17 Contribution Details

Hello all, we'll be back next month with a brand-new Issue, kicking-off this somewhat barren year without much Doctor Who with our own brand of sunshine! Issue 16 - NEW Contribution Details

The time has come again...Fish Fingers and Custard Issue 16 will (hopefully) be released next month and as always, we need YOUR help to make it happen! For this issue, we're mainly looking for reviews (positive or negative - we don't discriminate!) of the entirety of Series 8, or even just individual episodes. We have no set word count - we generally aim for about 700 or so, but we'll except anything really! For further details, please see our information page Of course, if you'd like to write about something other than the latest series then please feel free to contribute that also. The only rule is - it has to be at least vaguely-re lated to Doctor Who! Please e-mail fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com with your articles. The deadline is 31st July . Thanks!

Issue 16 - Contribution Details

The fanzine will be back next month - and as always, we're looking for contributions. We'll be reviewing Series 8 as an whole, there's no set word count for these reviews as of yet, so you can just send in whatever you feel like writing (positive or negative) on the last series of Doctor Who. If you'd like to write anything else that relates to Doctor Who, this too will be gratefully accepted. If you've been to any conventions in the last 6 months or so for example, we'd love a report on one. We have a submissions guide here if you'd like to check it out for any ideas. The e-mail address to send us your questions or stuff to is fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com and the deadline is 6th March. Cheers!

Fish Fingers and Custard - Issue 15 - OUT NOW!

If we were a little bit sexist, then we'll say that waiting for a new Issue of Fish Fingers and Custard is like waiting for the right woman , who will turn up fashionably late. So, just imagine that woman turns up 3 months late? You're not bothered, because she's great, she's different . Beautiful, funny, masterful , if you will. What a woman .  Well, we're nothing like that, apart from being 3 months late, we contain the same-old love and spelling mistakes that you've come to expect. Anyway, here are the details of how to buy the new issue, which has got nothing to do with Series 8, despite the rubbish I've just written above: *PLEASE NOTE THIS ISSUE IS NOW SOLD OUT* For a finely-printed, but adequately put-together paper copy of the fanzine, the prices are as follows: UK - £2 Rest of the World - £4.50 To order a copy, please send the payment that applies to you, via PayPal to fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com (please mark your paymen...

Issue 15 Update

We're well into production of the brand new Issue here at the Fish Custard office (we've had a delivery of tea and biscuits) but we're still looking for more contributions from Doctor Who fans to give their views on the anniversary and/or the Matt Smith era as an whole. We have no word count, or any guidelines for you to abide by (as long as you keep it sensible!) If that doesn't float you boat (which it technically won't) we're also looking for your view on the casting of Peter Capaldi and what future Doctor Who has got to look forward to. We'd also welcome any art or spoofs you can come up with, too! And if you can lend us £5000, that'll also be acceptable. Joking* Please e-mail fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com and one of our team of bores will get back to you. The deadline is the 28th February Cheers! *Not really

Contribute To The First Issue of 2014!

We're tentatively stepping out, like a drunken woman outside a nightclub with no shoes on at 5am, to announce that we're back from our self-imposed sabbatical and are ready for another new Issue. But like the aforementioned lady, let's call her Fanny, we need a taxi to get her home - and less wet than she already is. It's raining. We want YOU to be that taxi driver and to contribute to help to get Fanny home. In other words, we're after contributions for the new Issue. For this Issue we're looking for the following written works: The Anniversary - what you did/how you watched the 50th Anniversary story The Time of The Doctor - Your review of Matt Smith's swansong as The Doctor The Matt Smith era - what you enjoyed/what you disliked/how the show will move forward Peter Capaldi - your take on the casting and his appearance in The Time of The Doctor OR...anything else you can think of. As long as it's Doctor Who-related If you'd like to get...

Issue 14 - Out Now!

Image
We're back with another Issue of views, reviews and loads of waffle. With the 50th Anniversary just a matter of weeks away, this Issue provides all Doctor Who fans with a somewhat silly companion piece for the present time. In this Issue: Reviews of the latest Doctor Who episodes Thanks Matt Smith - we say goodbye to Doctor #11 Cyberman No3 - with a Five Doctors twist Review of the Doctor Who Proms (or 'Prom' if you're being pedantic) Peter Capaldi - our take on the casting Plus Much More Prices (includes P+P) UK: £2 Rest of the World: £4 You can order a copy of this mediocre printed mag by sending the payment that applies to you, via PayPal, to fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com and please mark your payment as 'family or friends', we're neither, but if you buy a fanzine, we'll be your friend for life. Oh and make sure you include your name and address too, so we can send you your mag. We won't stalk you or anything. Not if you do...
