Issue 19 – Submissions Wanted!

Image
We’re back for more! After spending 4 years doing nothing but eating biscuits (cookies, for our North American friends), we’re back for our 2 nd issue in 3 months! September will see us release Issue 19 – and we need contributors! Whilst we will always accept ANYTHING that is vaguely related to Doctor Who (you just have to read the other 18 to see that) for this particular issue we’re especially looking for: Reviews of Series 10 (Peter Capaldi’s last one) – We’re looking for your thoughts on the series; this can be you going through the episodes, your thoughts on the series as a whole, your favourite moments, your worst moments…whatever you like. There is no maximum word count for this –   generally, we get between 500-1000 words for reviews like these, but we’re willing to have more (or less). Just don’t go mad with your big words, this isn’t Buzzfeed. Your thoughts on the casting of Jodie Whittaker (and the current state of the show) – (Here we go) We're looking f...

Issue 17 Contribution Details

Hello all, we'll be back next month with a brand-new Issue, kicking-off this somewhat barren year without much Doctor Who with our own brand of sunshine! For Issue 1 7 , we're generally on the lookout for reviews of the latest series - we're going to be reviewing the individual stories (seeing as there are so many two-parters) and we've got the following left to offer you: Magicians Apprentice/The Witch’s Familiar Under The Lake/Before The Flood The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion The Husbands of River Song If you'd like to review a particular story, please e-mail us at fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com asap so we can save you the slot. The stories are given on a first-come-first basis, so if your chosen story is taken by the time you e-mail, we'll offer you another if there are any left! Please keep your reviews from 500-1500 words – if you need more (or less!) please get in touch and we'll sort something out. Don't be afraid of b...

Issue 16 - NEW Contribution Details

The time has come again...Fish Fingers and Custard Issue 16 will (hopefully) be released next month and as always, we need YOUR help to make it happen! For this issue, we're mainly looking for reviews (positive or negative - we don't discriminate!) of the entirety of Series 8, or even just individual episodes. We have no set word count - we generally aim for about 700 or so, but we'll except anything really! For further details, please see our information page Of course, if you'd like to write about something other than the latest series then please feel free to contribute that also. The only rule is - it has to be at least vaguely-re lated to Doctor Who! Please e-mail fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com with your articles. The deadline is 31st July . Thanks!

Issue 16 - Contribution Details

The fanzine will be back next month - and as always, we're looking for contributions. We'll be reviewing Series 8 as an whole, there's no set word count for these reviews as of yet, so you can just send in whatever you feel like writing (positive or negative) on the last series of Doctor Who. If you'd like to write anything else that relates to Doctor Who, this too will be gratefully accepted. If you've been to any conventions in the last 6 months or so for example, we'd love a report on one. We have a submissions guide here if you'd like to check it out for any ideas. The e-mail address to send us your questions or stuff to is fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com and the deadline is 6th March. Cheers!

Fish Fingers and Custard - Issue 15 - OUT NOW!

Image
If we were a little bit sexist, then we'll say that waiting for a new Issue of Fish Fingers and Custard is like waiting for the right woman , who will turn up fashionably late. So, just imagine that woman turns up 3 months late? You're not bothered, because she's great, she's different . Beautiful, funny, masterful , if you will. What a woman .  Well, we're nothing like that, apart from being 3 months late, we contain the same-old love and spelling mistakes that you've come to expect. Anyway, here are the details of how to buy the new issue, which has got nothing to do with Series 8, despite the rubbish I've just written above: *PLEASE NOTE THIS ISSUE IS NOW SOLD OUT* For a finely-printed, but adequately put-together paper copy of the fanzine, the prices are as follows: UK - £2 Rest of the World - £4.50 To order a copy, please send the payment that applies to you, via PayPal to fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com (please mark your paymen...

Issue 15 Update

We're well into production of the brand new Issue here at the Fish Custard office (we've had a delivery of tea and biscuits) but we're still looking for more contributions from Doctor Who fans to give their views on the anniversary and/or the Matt Smith era as an whole. We have no word count, or any guidelines for you to abide by (as long as you keep it sensible!) If that doesn't float you boat (which it technically won't) we're also looking for your view on the casting of Peter Capaldi and what future Doctor Who has got to look forward to. We'd also welcome any art or spoofs you can come up with, too! And if you can lend us £5000, that'll also be acceptable. Joking* Please e-mail fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com and one of our team of bores will get back to you. The deadline is the 28th February Cheers! *Not really

Contribute To The First Issue of 2014!

We're tentatively stepping out, like a drunken woman outside a nightclub with no shoes on at 5am, to announce that we're back from our self-imposed sabbatical and are ready for another new Issue. But like the aforementioned lady, let's call her Fanny, we need a taxi to get her home - and less wet than she already is. It's raining. We want YOU to be that taxi driver and to contribute to help to get Fanny home. In other words, we're after contributions for the new Issue. For this Issue we're looking for the following written works: The Anniversary - what you did/how you watched the 50th Anniversary story The Time of The Doctor - Your review of Matt Smith's swansong as The Doctor The Matt Smith era - what you enjoyed/what you disliked/how the show will move forward Peter Capaldi - your take on the casting and his appearance in The Time of The Doctor OR...anything else you can think of. As long as it's Doctor Who-related If you'd like to get...

Issue 15 - THE ANNIVERSARY ONE - Contribution Details

Image
Everyone thinks that the Anniversary of Doctor Who is over...but it isn't! The 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who is just starting! To celebrate this, we're producing (what we hope!) will be our biggest and best Issue ever. As always, we need contributions from you. For this Issue we're looking for essays/reports on the 50th Anniversary, amazingly enough! We want to know what YOU did for the big day, what you thought, what you felt etc Whether you watched it at home, saw it at a cinema, went to a party...anything! Also, we're after your reviews of the actual episode (positive - or negative). If all of that doesn't take your fancy, you can write about what you think of 50 years of Doctor Who and what it means to you. Please e-mail us at fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com with whatever you like! Please note that the deadline is 7th December Cheers!

Issue 13 Download & Contribute to Issue 14

We're back and gearing up for a summer of being shut up in our bedrooms, typing out the same-old nonsense as we usually do. Like the typical Doctor Who fans we are. New Year - New Issues!

After a somewhat quiet Christmas, we're all set for a busy year of Doctor Who!  But like everyone in the UK at the moment, we're shit scared of the all the snow outside and we're even finding it difficult to sneak past hoards of snowmen so we can panic buy bread, milk and DWM's from the local supermarket. So with all that in mind, we're stuck on our computers and have decided to get on with this year's issues. We're looking for the usual 'anything to do with Doctor Who' scribblings, to be more specific however, we're mainly looking for reviews of the latest episode of Doctor Who, The Snowmen .  We need as many in-depth reviews as possible - positive, negative or both! So don't be put off if you don't share the general reaction, in fact, we'll love to hear as many different point of views as possible! Please make you reviews no more than 750 words and no less than 1. Any number between the two is also fine.  Seeing as it's the 50...

As ever, we'll accept anything that vaguely relates to Doctor Who!  However with the new series back on the screens soon, if you'd like to write a short piece (1000 words max) on your thoughts of the last series, or the Moffat/Smith era so far (positive and/or negative!) those would be very welcome.  Please e-mail us at fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com with anything you'd like to contribute! If you haven't read it yet, you can now read our latest Issue here Cheers

Begging Bowls and Selling Souls

Image
As the new series is currently being filmed, we're still beavering away, attempting to bring you all the latest guff from the Doctor Who underground.  And we are underground - as I said - we're beavering away.  The last few months has seen a frightening drop in people sending stuff in (which is understandable, what with the series not being on, and all) and a quite alarming rise in postal prices here in the UK (which isn't understandable. They're just robbing bastards).  We can deal with the postal charges (no change in the prices for our readers) but we really need more contributions from people in order to maintain our existence.  If you fancy seeing your work in the fanzine please get in touch via fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com   I can't stress enough that we'll accept ANYTHING as long as it's well written/drawn.  We exist to offer fans like you a view, so there is no agenda here to promote a particular point of view.  You can even write someth...

More Contributors Wanted!

We're hoping to release more Issues in the next couple of months, but we can only do so with the support of our readers.  As always, we're on the lookout for contributors old or new, so if you fancy writing about anything that vaguely-relates Doctor Who, please get in touch with us at fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com at anytime!  If you need ideas on what to write, look at the tab on the left of this page, or browse through our back catalogue!  The fanzine can only continue if people send in their stuff, so we'd be grateful if you could! We've got plenty of things planned for the coming year and with Doctor Who also building up to it's 50th Birthday - it's a great time to be involved with fandom! Cheers

We're Back...

We’re now gratefully accepting contributions for the next issue of the fanzine! In Issue 9 we’ll be looking at ‘ The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe ’, as well as the usual gubbins we normally have (please make your reviews of the Christmas episode no more than 750 words and no less than 1. Any number between the two is fine!) If you fancy contributing, please e-mail us at fishcustardfanzine@googlemail.com and we’ll endeavour to get back to you. If you need any inspiration on what to write, please feel free to have a look at our back issues, which you can access on the left of this page. (We generally accept any reviews, opinion pieces, convention reports, art, spoofs, poems etc) Even if you’ve never contributed to anything before, this is YOUR CHANCE to get involved with a Doctor Who fanzine that is read all over the world, by every type of person imaginable. Except Justin Bieber fans.  The deadline for all contributions is 24th February Cheers!
